Philip, I see you don't own the game, so I'll break down a few similarities you mentioned: I really hope you have plans for more games and AoG 2 is among them.I really enjoyed the Banner Saga and can clearly see the influence here, but taking that standpoint means we'll never get games like the Banner Saga, which if you're a fan you should want (even if it leads to 9 bad games out of 10 clones - you still get 1 good game. Basically an immortal scholar, a noble prince and a random-encounter-bandit all talk in the same way. There are some flaws, of course, especially in terms of combat system and dialog writing.Įven in Russian, where could be no "difficulties of translation", there's no difference in speech patterns among different characters. So far Ash of Gods seems to be much better in this regard. I won't forget (and forgive) how poor Egil died even though I set him in safest place possible specifically to keep him alive. Story is interesting (plot is one of the strongest points of the game in my opinion) and music and art-style are outstanding.Īnd while comparisons with Banner Saga are inevitable, I have to say that I'm having much more fun with AoG, then I ever had with BS.īS turned out to be a game about not about making difficult choices and hard decisions, but a game about living with consequences of your guesses. The only time I saw developers nearly as involved in post-release discussions with community was in Expeditions: Viking.
